My first job with Wynne and Vivian was a gate restoration for the front drive followed by several gates around the wooded grounds of their home.

Happy with the work so far, they decided a couple of years later to commission one of my most interesting jobs to date. The brief was to create a walkway starting at a bamboo plant opening and running parallel to a woodland then turning at a right angle, a total of 30m.

I decided to use large 250mm square ,3m tall green oak timbers as my posts to support my design. This was to be a ‘sky river’. Looking above you, you would see the flowing river, its eddies and swirls as it makes its way to a fountain before turning off at a right angle to continue its journey.

Finished in silver with a stainless-steel sculpture added to the fountain end a few months later. The overall effect is dramatic but still retains a subtleness and elegance. I Loved working on this project. Wynne and Vivian are great clients to work for and I am grateful they believed in my ideas.
